Formaldehyde has been regarded as a common indoor pollutant and does great harm to human health, which caused the relevant departments pay attention its accurate detection. At present, spectrophotometry, gas chromatography, liquid other methods have proposed for formaldehyde Among them, sensor is especially suitable gaseous detection with fastest response speed highest sensitivity. Compared sensors based on small molecules, polymer-based higher selectivity but lower sensitivity because can realize specific of through chemical reaction. Polymer-related be very versatile. They fabricated single polymer, molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP), polymer/metal-oxide composites, different polymers, polymer/biomass material polymer/carbon polymer composites materials. Almost all these detect at ppb levels under laboratory conditions. Moreover, almost nanocomposite better than sensors. However, sensing performance will greatly reduced in humid environment due sensitive coating sensor, mostly hydrophilic polymer. researchers are trying improve or use humidity compensation optimize sensor.
